What I love most of this program is it's a win-win-win. It's a win for me because I get this awesome, unique experience personally. It's a win for IBM because it builds goodwill and establishes the company as a leading global corporate citizen. Finally it's a win for the local clients as they get our help for free. Hard to see anything wrong with that!
I had the opportunity to have lunch with IBM's vice president of corporate citizenship this week along with other program participants in the local area. The CSC is his baby and you can tell how genuinely excited and proud he is of the results to date. One interesting thing he told those of us corporate citizenship is increasingly becoming a part of RFPs that company's field out when they solicit bids from vendors - particularly in growth markets. IBM's story and in particular the CSC program is actually helping us win business which is nice to hear. He also told us that Harvard Business School will be publishing a new case study on the program so business students will be studying what we are doing. Also pretty cool.
Hoping it hear in a few weeks where I'm going.
